About James Hubert Blake High School

The Community
Blake High School is located in a middle class suburban community, 15 miles north of Washington, D.C. The diverse suburban population is a mixture of older established communities and areas with new housing developments.

The Northeast Consortium
Blake High School is one of three high schools in the Northeast Consortium. Each school offers a comprehensive high school curriculum and a distinctive signature program focusing on particular areas of study. Students residing within the Northeast Consortium may select the high school they attend.

The School
Blake High School is a public high school that serves 1932 students in grades 9-12. Blake offers a comprehensive academic program with a signature program in fine arts and humanities.

The Honors Program
The honors program is designed to provide instructional challenges for academically talented and motivated students. The program consists of honors courses, advanced level courses, and Advanced Placement courses. Honors level courses are offered in English, foreign language, mathematics, science and social studies. Advanced Placement courses are offered in twenty-two subject areas. In 2004, over 400 students took Advanced Placement examinations, consisting of nearly 700 exams. 76% of of the students who took exams received a national qualifying score of 3, 4 or 5
