Beverly Farms Elementary School ProceduresSchool Time Schedule: The school hours are 8:50 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. Emergency Closing of School: If schools are closed due to inclement weather or other emergencies, news will be broadcast as soon as possible on local radio and television stations and other media including the Internet:
DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL, PLEASE. If a late opening occurs, morning kindergarten may be canceled, but afternoon kindergarten sessions will be held. If an early closing is announced, then there may be no afternoon kindergarten. Early closing is broadcast by 11:00 a.m. Call Center: 301-309-MCPS (or 6277) Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. The MCPS Call Center is designed to provide families and community members with a one-stop resource for accurate and timely information about the school system. Questions such as “How do I enroll my child in school?,” “When does school start?,” “When will my child receive a report card?” will be answered. The MCPS Call Center will provide answers to community questions in English and Spanish. Callers speaking other languages will be referred to the Cambodian, Korean, Vietnamese, French, and Chinese language lines in the MCPS Division of ESOL/Bilingual Programs. The MCPS Call Center is accessible to individuals with disabilities by utilizing the relay system. Excuses for Absence: State regulations require that parents send written excuses for absences when the child returns to school. Lawful absences are illness of child; death in the family; physical incapacity; quarantine; or religious holiday. Parents are urged to make dental, medical and other appointments for their children after school hours. Illness: If your child becomes ill at school, we will notify you or the relative or neighbor you have designated before he/she is sent home. It is very important to have the business telephones of both parents and for these to be kept current. Notify the office immediately if there is a change in the person or telephone number to call in an emergency. If at all possible, transportation should be furnished by the parent or designated person. Lost and Found: Lost money is taken to the office. Lost articles are located near the Cafeteria. Please label all items with the child’s name, i.e., lunch boxes, shoes, sneakers, sweaters, coats, etc. Lunch: Our school has a SNAP program where students may prepay for lunch and enter their pin number into the cash register. This eliminates the need to carry money every day. Parents/guardians should deposit money into their children’s lunch account. School Store: The school store will operate daily 8:35 to 8:50 am.
