Bus Transportation: The school does not regulate the school buses. For inquiries, call 301-469-1070 or 301-469-1029. After School Day Care: A variety of day care options are available to Beverly Farms students. There is one after school day care program housed at Beverly Farms Elementary School; information about Beverly Farms Children’s Center, can be obtained by calling 301-299-6442. Guidance Counselor: Mrs. Robin Cooper works with teachers, parents, and children to help each child reach his or her potential and to feel successful and happy in the process. Individual and small group counseling, informal “lunch bunches”, parents and teacher conferences, coordination of school records and services, and classroom guidance sessions are included in the guidance program. Instrumental Music: Children in grades 4 and 5 are eligible for this program. Mr. Phil Collins, the instrumental music teacher, demonstrates the instruments to all fourth graders and interested fifth graders. This is followed by a meeting with the parents of interested children and then the children are screened. Only band and orchestra instruments are taught, and the child must furnish his/her own instrument. The music teacher is here one and a half days a week. Instruction is given according to type of instrument for beginners. Advanced students are instructed in ensemble groups. Safety Patrols: The patrol force strives to insure 1) the safety of students walking to and from school; 2) the order and safety of students waiting for school openings; 3) the order and safety on school buses; and 4) confidence and safety for kindergarten students. Officers, who attend a summer training camp, are chosen from among the 5th grade patrols. The patrols are under the supervision of Mr. Jeff Purgason.
PTA-SPONSORED ACTIVITIES Annual Enrichment Events: The PTA sponsors a variety of events to supplement the school experience of our students and unite our community. Schedule events for 2006-2007 include an International Fair, Science Expo, a Variety Show, and a Community Service Fair Artist-in Residence: The PTA sponsors visual and other artists who come to Beverly Farms for extended periods to work with all our students on unique artistic techniques and processes. The final products of past residencies, including works in stained glass, tapestries and murals are proudly on permanent display throughout our school building. Cultural Arts: The PTA sponsors periodic assemblies in the school to expand our students’ appreciation of the performing arts. Professionals in the fields of music, dance, and theater and perform. Programs chosen to enrich the school’s curriculum. Before and After School Enrichment Activities: The PTA coordinates a variety of before and after school activities. These include: Basketball, Chess, FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary School), Keyboarding, and Mad Science. Flyers are sent home for registration for each session.
