Pre - K and Kindergarten Field Day

These items listed below are descriptions of the activities the students go to do during Field Day.
|
- Volcano: the volcano is erupting, students will have to put out the volcano by
using the "water bombs" (bean bags). Students will travel up the mountain by
way of the balance beam, through the mats, over the balance stones (one foot on
each stone), through the hula hoops, through the tunnel, and over the river of
jump ropes to throw two water balls into the volcano. Students will continue until
all water bombs are gone.
- Numbered cones: students will start at a come. Remove the index card from
under the cone and move to the next cone that the index card adds up to (ex.
Index card says 2+3= student moves to cone number 5)
- Trees in the Forest: Have half the class stand in a hula hoop. The other half of
the class will stand on the Green line behind the Red cones
- Hula Hoop Throw: Divide your class into four groups. Each group will stand
behind a jump rope, facing the hula hoops. Each group will receive a color and
throw their color equipment into the corresponding hula hoop.
- 5. Hula Hoop Hop-Scotch: Students will jump one foot into the green hula hoops
and two feet into the red hula hoops.
- .Tumbling: Have the students follow the arrows from mat to mat. They will
perform the tumbling skill that is on the Card next to the mat. Then the students
will move to the Ropes and they can stand on the chair and swing to the other
side. And finally walk back to the start line and students can repeat up to 3 times.
- Throwing for Letters/Numbers: Students will get a 3 X 5 index card from the
hula hoop and spell their word by hitting each letter in order on the card.
Continue with another index card when the student finishes.
- Hopping: Break students into 4 groups. Have each group form a line behind the
cone. Students will hop (on one foot) to the cone at the end of their lane. They
will walk AROUND all lanes and go back to the end of their lane. Students can
go up to five times.
- Jumping: Break students into 4 groups. Have each group form a line behind the
cone. Students will jump (on two feet) to the cone at the end of their lane. They
will walk AROUND all lanes and go back to the end of their lane." Students can
go up to five times.
- Clean-out your backyard: Divide your class into two groups. Student will
throw the trash (all equipment) out of their backyard and into their neighbor's
backyard. Pre-K, kindergarten, and grade 1 will throw underhand and grade 2
will throw overhand. Make sure you watch where they throw.
- Locomotor Driver's License: Have each student stand in a Hula Hoop. Each
student will put on their seat belt after getting into their car (hula hoop). Explain
that they will have to perform the locomotor movements when you call out a
situation:
- a. Speed Bumps - Hop
b. Pot Holes - Jump
c. School zone - Walk
d. 1-270 - Running
e. Big Hills - Gallop
f. Mountains - Skip (1st & 2nd only)
When they start their car, you will call out one situation and they will move using that Locomotor Movement. They will change their Locomotor Movement when you call out a new Locomotor Movement. (Make sure students are not bumping into each other).

Batter-Up: Divide your class into four groups. One student, from each group,
will stand next to the tee, one student, from each group, will stand 5 feet behind
the tee, the remaining students will be behind the cones. First student will hit ball
and run to the cone and back to the tee and continue running until ball is placed
on tee. Students 3, 4, and 5 will retrieve the ball and throw to student 2, who will
place on tee. Each student will have three hits. Rotate so each student hits.

Running: Break students into 4 groups. Have each group form a line behind the
cone. Students will run to the cone at the end of their lane. They will walk
AROUND all lanes and go back to the end of their lane. Students can go up to
five times.

Galloping: Break students into 4 groups. Have each group form a line behind the
cone. Students will gallop to the cone at the end of their lane. They will walk
AROUND all lanes and go back to the end of their lane. Students can go up to
five times.

Kick for Distance: Divide your class into four groups. Each student will have 2
balls. Stand behind the line and first student in line will go to the X and place the
ball on the X. Students will then kick the ball as far as they can. Student will
proceed to end of the line. Continue until all the balls are gone. Each group will
retrieve their own balls when their group is finished. Can be done up to 4 times.

Swim-Tag: Give a noodle to three different students. When a student gets tagged
they will have to freeze, and swim using their favorite swim stroke,. TO get
unfrozen someone else will have to stand in front of them and pretend to jump in
the pool (by holding their knows and holding up their hand and bend down).

Soccer Kicks: Divide your class into 4 groups. Each student will have 2 balls.
Stand behind the line and first student in line will go to the X and place the ball on
the X. Student will then kick the ball at the goal. Student will proceed to end of
line. Continue until all balls are gone. Each group will retrieve their own ball
when their group is finished. Can be done up to 4 times.

Throwing for Distance: Divide your class into 4 groups. Each student will have
4 yarn balls. Stand behind the line and first student in line will go to the X and
throw one ball and proceed to end of line. Continue until all yarn balls are gone.
Each group will retrieve their yarn ball when their group is finished. Can be done
up to 4 times.

Run around the Field: Break students into 4 groups. Have students run/walk
around the field 1 time. They will follow the white line

Skipping: Break students into 4 groups. Have each group form a line behind the
cone. Students will skip to the cone at the end of their lane. They.will walk
AROUND all lanes and go back to the end of their lane. Students can go up to
five times.
