AUDITION TIPS FOR B-CC SHOWS
Arrive at least 15 minutes early. You will need time to fill out
an audition form, a conflicts sheet, warm up your body and voice,
and ensure that you are ready.
For a musical, you should have learned the required
songs handed out at school. For a non-musical, you should come ready
with a monologue in the style of the play. Having your materials
memorized is preferred, valued, and shows that you are committed
to the show (and, in the professional world you’ll be required
to have materials memorized), but having a sheet of paper with your
audition materials on it is okay too.
Be sure that you have a picture of yourself to attach
to your audition form. The picture does not need to be a professional
headshot. Also, you may bring a theatrical resume, but it is not
required.
All shows are cast based on the needs of the production,
the talent demonstrated and available, and the evidence of commitment
presented by the student. If the talent is available, all roles
are open to double-casting, though no roles are ever specifically
specified as “double-cast” before auditions.
If you are not called-back for another round of
auditions, that does not mean you have not been cast in the show.
Callbacks are used to make further casting decisions that could
not be made during the initial audition day.
The cast-list is posted on the school day following
the last day of callbacks.
