Report cards that were not picked up in AU (homeroom) are available in the Counseling Office with Ms. Goltz until Friday, February, 26th. After February 26th you may go to the Registrar's Office, where there will be a charge of 10 cents for a copy of your report card. Thank you.  (Goltz)

Student parking applications are available in the Main Office starting today, Monday, February 22nd, 2010. All completed applications must be turned in to the Main Office no later than Friday, February 26th, 2010.

Are you ready to face the panel? Auditions for the third annual B-CC Idol competition will take place after school on Thursday, March 4th. Students wishing to schedule an audition must fill out an application form, located outside of Mr. Boswell's room, E031. The form must be returned to him by March 2nd for an audition to be scheduled for you. As in the last year's competition, the winner will take all: a $500 cash prize. (Boswell)

Attention students, IB Film students will be holding auditions TODAY after school for students interested in appearing in their final classroom project for the year. If you are interested in auditioning, please come to Room E031 after school today. No previous acting experience is necessary. There are many parts available, since so many films are being produced. (Boswell)

ACT-SO (Academic, Cultural, Scientific Olympics), a program sponsored by the NAACP and designed to encourage, develop, and recognize high academic and artistic excellence among African American high school students, seeks participants for the upcoming Sunday, April 18, 2010 competition.
Students may participate in up to three of the following areas: Sciences, Humanities, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Business.
Students who participate and become winners at the local level qualify to compete in the National ACT-SO competition in Orlando, Florida.

All applications should be returned to the Main Office.
The deadline to return applications is February 26, 2010.

Attention all 10th grade students: The deadline for the MYP project has been extended to February 26, 2010. This is to ensure that all students will have an opportunity to meet with their mentors before the deadline. On this date, you need to turn in the following to your mentor: The Final Project, Personal Statement and Process Journal. You need to turn the exhibition questionnaire to Miss Boring in Room C214 on the same day. Thank you. (Boring)

 

SPORTS: 

Congratulations to the following Indoor Track team members who have qualified for the MD State Championships on Tuesday, February 23rd, at the Prince George's County Sportsplex. Representing the Barons in the Shot Put will be Chuck Banks; in the 300m, Terrence James; and in the Girls 4 x 800: Paige Donnelly, Ava Farrell, Hallie Jester, and Grace Reingruber.

In its 25th year of honoring the nation's best high school athletes, the Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN RISE Magazine, has announced Alex Doll as its 2009-10 Gatorade Maryland Girls' Soccer Player of the Year. Alex is the first Gatorade Maryland Girls Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from B-CC HS.

Breaking News...this just in...Varsity Girls Soccer Coach, Rob Kurtz, has been named the winner in the Positive Coaching Alliance's Double-Goal Coaching Award presented by Liberty Mutual. Double-Goal coaches have a first goal of winning, and a second, more important goal, of teaching life lessons through sports.

If you see B-CC Swimmer Michael Center, congratulate him for qualifying for the Junior National Championships in Orlando.

A final reminder to students trying out for Spring Sports, turn in all forms to your coaches by TODAY, February 22nd. Also note that all obligations are to be paid, before you can tryout.

The WINTER ATHLETIC AWARDS night will be held on Monday, March 15th, at 7pm in the B-CC Auditorium.
 

The B-CC vs. Wootton basketball game, snowed out on Feb. 9th, has been rescheduled for TONIGHT, Feb. 22nd. This is a VARSITY ONLY boy/girl doubleheader: boys at 5:15pm and the girls at 7pm. The games will be played at B-CC.

The JV game will not be rescheduled. The JV season officially ended on Wednesday, Feb. 17th.

SPRING SPORTS NEWS: All students interested in trying out for spring sports - all paperwork is to be turned in to your coach by TODAY, February 22nd. The first day of tryouts is Monday, March 1st. Check the Athletics page on the B-CC web site for all forms. Please contact your coach or Ms. Thom with any questions or concerns.

There will be an informational meeting for Outdoor Track on Wednesday, February 24th, during lunch in Room C-105. If you are interested in participating this spring, you should be there to learn more about the team. If you can't make it, please see Mr. Young or Mr. Herchenroeder for more details. (Young)

ALL INTERESTED BOYS LACROSSE PLAYERS: There is one more optional workout scheduled for this THURSDAY, February 25th. The workout will run from 3:30-4:45pm, and will be held out on the track/tennis courts; and, in case of bad weather, an alternate location will be determined and announced. Interested athletes should wear appropriate workout clothes, bring their own water and SHOULD NOT bring their sticks. The school store located across from the main office is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school from 2:10 - 3:00 p.m., stop by to grab a quick snack, a cool drink or to purchase BARONS Merchandise! The school store accepts cash and checks only, sorry no credit cards.
