MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION RESULTS:
The Mock Trial Team of B-CC had their first competition on Wednesday against Northwest High School. There was a split decision by the judge as to the team who best proved their case, with the plaintiff being found guilty of one charge but not-guilty on the second charge. Overall Northwest won in points by a narrow margin. Great job to our whole Mock Trial Team. The next meet will be Wednesday, February 8th, at 6:00 pm.

THE ANNUAL HBCU FAIR – COMING SOON:
Montgomery Blair High School will host the annual MCPS HBCU Colleg Fair on Wednesday, February 15th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The fair is open to all MCPS students in grades 9-12. Over 60 schools will be represented.
FOR SENIORS, many colleges will hold on-site admission interviews, application fees will be waived, and scholarships will be offered. Seniors who intend to interview on the spot should start to prepare NOW. You must bring an official transcript, two recommendation letters, the college’s completed application including essay and a copy of SAT or ACT scores. Seniors who want help with applications and/or essays should visit the College and Career Center at lunchtime or after school.
Patricia B. Parmelee
College & Career Coordinator
MID-YEAR GRADES DIRECTIONS:
Seniors: We will be able to send mid-year transcripts electronically by the middle of February. Please complete the green “request for mid-year report” form to list the colleges to which you want a mid-year transcript sent. Please DO NOT send emails to the counseling staff requesting your mid-year grades. We will only accept the green mid-year request form that is on our web site or in the counseling suite. Complete this form and bring it to Ms. Peebles (Registrar) in Counseling.
If you need mid-year grades mailed, please bring in a business sized/stamped addressed envelope for each school.
Thank you,
B-CC Counseling Dept.
SCHOOL PROJECT HELP:
Interested in Science Fair? Complete a project for a class, internship or on your own? Still want to do a project in physics, engineering, math, computer science or other sciences. Sign up at www.ScienceMontgomery.org and see Ms. Merrell in B316 about paperwork by Friday.

COURSE SELECTION – AP and IB:
Course registration cards for the 2012-13 school year will be distributed to students in grades 9, 10, and 11 this week. So that our tenth and eleventh graders can ask questions about Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses, we're holding a series of five open houses at lunchtime during the week of January 30. Students can drop in, ask questions, get copies of syllabi, and get information to help them with an informed decision about AP and IB courses. Here's the schedule of open houses along with the courses that will be represented at each open house:
Friday, February 3: Mathematics, C102 (AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, IB Math Higher Level)
ELECTIVES FAIR: We're also organizing an electives course fair on Wednesday, February 8th, at lunchtime, which will bring all the teachers of all levels of electives - AP, IB, honors, on-level - together in one place for students to ask questions.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Beth Groeneman
IB Diploma Coordinator
