AFI SUMMER MOVIE CAMP AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE
Aspiring filmmakers ages 16 and up should consider this
three-week, intensive workshop to learn all aspects of motion
picture production. Students will work with professional
actors, a director of photography and editors. Students

BROWN UNIVERSITY PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER @ BROWN
College is about discovery: intellectual, social and academic.
The Pre-College Summer Program at Brown is designed to let
motivated high school students experience all facets of
life on an Ivy League campus. Students are engaged in participative
academics where they are encouraged to debate, question,
and explore rather than simply absorb information.
Two formats are offered: seven week credit courses or shorter
mini-courses. The seven week courses are selected from existing
courses in the Brown undergraduate curriculum. The mini-courses

COLLEGE OF WILLIAM AND MARY PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAM
FOR DISADVANTAGED RISING JUNIORS
This Science Training and Research program (STAR) will provide
the challenge of an authentic college experience through
a four week program of living and learning on campus. Students
will be assigned a faculty mentor and will have the opportunity
to improve their performance on the new SAT. Students must
have a cumulative GPA of at least a "B" and have
completed two years of pre-college math and two courses
in science. For program purposes, "disadvantaged"
means students with parents whose formal education includes
little or no college, and students from high schools with
modest resources in math and science. Through a grant from
the Howard Hughes Institute there will be no cost for housing,

While earning two semester hours of college credits, a student
spends two weeks developing college-level skills. The student

GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITY
DEADLINE: February 20, 2004
PAYMENT: High school students will receive $8/hr
TERM: 10 weeks in the summer
QUALIFICATIONS: The program is open to full-time students
in computer science, the physical sciences and mathematics.
All students will be evaluated relative to their school-level
peers. Participants must be either US citizens or foreign
nationals in US schools who are ether permanent residents
or who possess a valid F-1 or J-1 visa. All selected students
will be subject to a pre-employment security background
check under current security guidelines.
High School: Students will be evaluated with emphasis
on their potential and related extracurricular experiences,
as well as on course work. The number of positions available
will be limited.
Launch Your Future to NASA, The Visiting Student Enrichment
Program (VSEP) now in it's 20th year, is offering summer
positions at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt,
MD as student employees of the Goddard Earth Sciences and
Technology Center (GEST) of the Univ. Of Maryland Baltimore
County (UMBC) http://vsep.gsfc.nasa.gov
Each student is matched with one or more mentors at Goddard
who work with the student for 10 weeks on a computer-based
research project. This unique summer program invites participation
by high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. VSEP
offers students temporary summer employment positions for
10 weeks as contractor employees working in various GSFC
organizations. The employer handles the correspondence with
prospective students, their travel and accommodation arrangements,
and their fiscal concerns. Civil servants administer the
program.
Students will be full-time student employees of UMBC. High
school students will receive $8/hr, undergraduate students
will receive $10/hr and graduate students will receive $12/hr.
For those students not within normal commuting distance
to GSFC, VSEP will arrange local housing and reimburse up
to $500 for one round-trip between the student's home and
Maryland.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY VISTA POSITION

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, MD has a great
opportunity for a graduating high school student who is
planning to postpone their college plans for a year or is

Our affiliate has received federal grant money through the

This four week intensive program focuses on critical thinking
and problem-solving skills and is designed to prepare 10th,
11th, and 12th grade students for a successful freshman
year in college. Coursework includes English, Math, science,
and study skills. Students will set personal objectives
and select projects to accomplish them. The cost of the

Four hundred juniors will be invited to attend this one-week
workshop held in June at the United States Military Academy

Montgomery College is sponsoring a career camp for 9th and
10th grade high school students interested in learning more

will receive hands-on experiences to help them decide if

"FASTREC" AT TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Freshman Accelerated Start-
up and Training for Retention
in Engineering Curricula
(FASTREC) is an eight- week summer program for high school
graduates interested in engineering careers and who are
eligible for admission into Tuskegee University. Students
pursue an intensive course of study in mathematics, science,
engineering graphics, and freshman orientation. This special
pre-engineering summer program provides students with an
early opportunity to begin their engineering career, earning
up to seven credits towards a BS degree in Engineering.
Students selected to participate are awarded full tuition
and book scholarships but must pay their own room and board,
personal expenses, and transportation. Upon completion,
scholarships up to $5,000 per year will be awarded to selected
students for use at Tuskegee University only.

TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY VET-STEP SUMMER ENRICHMENT
Vet-Step introduces promising high achieving minority students
with 2.7+ GPAs to the veterinary profession and curriculum.
This two week intensive training program for students in
