Latest news: B-CC got knocked out of the 3A West playoffs Wednesday, falling to Watkins Mill in the regional semifinal round. The Barons finished the season with an excellent 17-5 record. B-CC had a first-round bye and defeated Seneca Valley in the quarterfinals. Congratulations to the seven seniors - co-captains Rosie Eck, Lee Geiser, and Nancy Makuch, Maddy and Hannah Carretero, Kate Dimsdale, and Miriam Mathis - for a wonderful VB career with the Barons!

The Montgomery County 2008 Senior All-Star Game is set. The selection committee of 7 high school varsity coaches from Blake, Kennedy, Quince Orchard, Magruder, Northwest, Poolesville and Watkins Mill met and finalized the following details:

The game will take place on November 21st at 7:30 pm at Magruder High School. This is a charity game, and 100% of all profits will be donated to Lauren Weller, a standout volleyball Gaithersburg graduate who has been battling cancer for several years now. It's a great event that has traditionally been well supported by the coaches.

The rosters will include Rosie Eck and Lee Geiser playing for the West team, co-coached by B-CC's own Michelle Clise and Poolesville's Fran Duvall.

2007 Record: 14-4, Division: 5-2: The Barons' season came to an end the same way it did in 2006 - with a 3-0 loss in the state semifinals to South region champion Huntingtown. It was a disappointing end to the fine B-CC careers of seniors Wanxin Liu and Priscilla Aguilar, but they can be very proud of two straight regional titles. For the rest of the team, it was time to say, "Wait until next year!"

Returning seniors Rosie Eck and Lee Geiser received honorable mention on the All-Gazette girls volleyball team.

The B-CC All-Sports Boosters purchase a silver engraved star for the student-athlete that the coach has designated as the example of sportsmanship on his/her team. It is given not only for hard work and personal improvement, but also for a willingness to understand, to learn, to enter into a partnership with the coaches and teammates in an effort to recognize one’s full potential. At the same time, this person has taken an individual sport to its highest team level by consistently placing personal goals subordinate to the team’s needs and goals. The 2007 winner was Andrea Vaught. The winner on the junior varsity was Meredith Powers.

REGIONAL CHAMPS!

In the 2007 regional playoffs, the Barons beat #4 seed Urbana, 3-0, in the finals at B-CC to become 3A West Regional Champions!

After a first-round bye, the Barons defeated Tuscarora, 3-0, in a quarterfinal game and beat #3 seed Watkins Mill, 3-0, in the regional semifinals.
