Indoor Track

2007-08 Varsity Indoor Track

Coaches: Maigan Campbell, Colleen Desmond, Nathan Herchenroeder, and Chad Young

Latest news: Alex Doll was named to the Mocorunning.com Girls All-Freshman Team, based on results from both the indoor and outdoor track seasons, with the following comment: "No county athlete topped Doll's full mile time of 5:02.53 during the indoor or outdoor season. She surprised people by scaring Morgane Gay at the Montgomery Invitational and went on to win the county, regional and state titles in the 1600-meter run. She earned All-American status in the freshman mile at Nike Indoor Nationals."

Chad Young was named The Washington Post's All-Met Coach of the Year for girls indoor track, with the comment: "Young worked with a group of four young distance runners who performed beyond expectations all the way to the Maryland 3A title." Freshman Alex Doll earned an honorable mention. Coach Young was also named Coach of the Year by the Post's Montgomery Extra, and Alex was named to the All-Extra first team.

At the 2008 Nike Indoor Nationals on March 15, Alex finished an impressive fourth in the freshman mile with a personal-best time of 5:02.53, and the next day B-CC's 4x800 relay - Alex, Paige Donnelly, Addie Tousley, and Hannah Richardson - took second in their heat and 11th overall with a time of 9:34.78.

Congratulations!

The B-CC All-Sports Boosters purchase a silver engraved star for the student-athlete that the coach has designated as the example of sportsmanship on his/her team. It is given not only for hard work and personal improvement, but also for a willingness to understand, to learn, to enter into a partnership with the coaches and teammates in an effort to recognize one’s full potential. At the same time, this person has taken an individual sport to its highest team level by consistently placing personal goals subordinate to the team’s needs and goals. The 2007-08 winners for indoor track and field were Kathleen Leuba and Matthew Davey-Karlson.

The state champion girls team was featured in stories in the Gazette and on MoCoRunning, with several pictures posted of the 3A championships. Running Maryland includes audio interviews with the winning 4x800 relay and 1600 champion Alex Doll.

Senior Dylan Straughan earned an honorable mention in the All-Gazette boys indoor track first team for the 3200 meters.

Congratulations, Barons!
