2007 Gymnastics Team

Latest news: In post-season honors, sophomore Ebony Walters was named Gymnast of the Year, and Coach Dana Creager was named Coach of the Year on The Washington Post's Montgomery County All-Extra gymnastics team, with the following comment about Ebony: "Walters dethroned two-time county champion Danae Johnson, winning the all-around title at the Montgomery County championships (38.25). The following week, she scored another 38.25 to win the state meet and led B-CC to the team titles at both competitions."

Two other Barons were also named to the All-Extra first team in gymnastics - freshman Whitney Boross and senior Katie Pelton.

Ebony was named to the All-Met first team in gymnastics with the following comment: "Won all-around titles at Montgomery and Md. championships, scoring 38.25 at each meet. Also won vault (9.875) and beam (9.55) titles at states and led B-CC to team title." Katie earned an honorable mention. Congratulations, Barons!

The B-CC All-Sports Boosters purchase a silver engraved star for the student-athlete that the coach has designated as the example of sportsmanship on his/her team. It is given not only for hard work and personal improvement, but also for a willingness to understand, to learn, to enter into a partnership with the coaches and teammates in an effort to recognize one’s full potential. At the same time, this person has taken an individual sport to its highest team level by consistently placing personal goals subordinate to the team’s needs and goals. The 2008 winner is Krysta Singh.

The B-CC gymnastics team brought home the State Championship from Arundel High again this year. The team is undefeated since 2006! B-CC sophomore Ebony Walters placed 1st All Around.

The team went into the Montgomery County Championship meet as the divisional champions with an undefeated record and emerged as the county champs! B-CC also broke the county and school record with a team score of 180.85.

2007 Record: 7-0. After finishing the regular season undefeated as divisional champions and then winning the county title, the B-CC gymnasts went to Arundel High for the regional championship and came away with 176.475 points and the first-place trophy! This is the state title, a fantastic achievement for a very hard-working team.

Dana Creager was named 2007 Coach of the Year by the Washington Post's Montgomery Extra, with the following comment: "Guided the Barons to an undefeated regular season, their first county championship since 2004 and a first-place finish at the state championships. At the county title meet, no B-CC gymnast finished higher than 10th all-around, but consistent solid scoring gave the Barons a half-point victory."
