Time for Academic
Progress is an after-school tutoring program
at B-CC for all students who seek to do better in their
courses. It provides students with a structured place to
work after school. In each room, B-CC teachers are available
to help students with their homework, studying, projects,
papers, etc. The program has been in existence for mathematics
for couple of years before expanding to English, foreign
Language, science and social studies in the 2004-2005 academic
year.
The expansion was in response to Acting Principal Sean
Bulson's survey of student leaders at the start of the 2004-2005
school year. The number one priority for the students was
having extra time and more focused academic support for
all students at all levels, from those struggling to succeed
in grade-level courses to those who were taking advanced
courses but need extra encouragement and support to succeed.
With funding from the B-CC High School Educational Foundation,
TAP is now available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
from 2:15 to 3:15pm, in English, Mathematics, Science and
Social Studies at the following locations:
2008-2009
| English: |
Building A, Room A311 |
| Math: |
Building C, Room C211 |
| Science: |
Building B, Room B318 |
| Social Studies: |

Additionally, support from the Foundation has enabled TAP
to hold evening sessions at the Gwendolyn Coffield Community
Center in Rosemary Hills since 2006. For the 2008-2009 academic
year, these sessions will be on Mondays and Wednesdays,
6:00-7:30pm, in the 2nd floor conference room. The program
provides not only general homework help in a structured
environment, but als one-on-one tutors when needed. The
computer lab will be available for school projects.
