The ATMS is an Academy that begins in the 10th grade and embraces and operates within the parameters of the Middle Years Program. It is dedicated to fostering and fulfilling the interest that students exhibit towards Technology, Mathematics and Science. The program is designed so that students will take a minimum of 12 credits of coursework within the Technology, Mathematics and Science Fields during their high school career. Students will complete 4 credits of Science, 4 credits of Math and 2 credits of Technology. The other 2 required credits would then be earned in the pathway within which the student chooses to specialize. The Academy seeks to develop the IB philosophy of integration of coursework across the curriculum. Students who choose to be part of the ATMS will be required to take a research class after school the second semester of their Junior year as well as the first semester of their Senior year. They will also be required to participate in an internship experience the summer of their Junior year and it is expected that the culmination of this experience will be a project which can be entered in state and national competitions.
The ATMS program can be entered in two different ways. In the first, Honors Biology would be taken during the Freshman year. The student would enter the ATMS during their sophomore year at the ATMS Chemistry level. This student would then complete Advanced AP and/or IB science courses their junior and senior years.
For the student who has a high interest in science but is not ready to immediately dive into the more rigorous BiologyHonors Matter and Energy are offered during the freshman year. This student would then enter the Academy their sophomore year in either ATMS Biology.

** Fulfills the language requirement for the Middle Years Program
Students will be expected to choose a pathway during their 10th grade year. Students may choose to specialize in a Technology, Mathematics or Science pathway within the Academy.
Students are expected to complete a minimum of 4 Science credits, 4 math credits and 2 technology credits in grades 9-12. In addition, 2 additional credits need to be completed within the pathway of the students’ choosing for a total of 12 Technology, Mathematics and Science credits.
Students participating in the ATMS are not excluded from participation in the IB Diploma Program and in fact the program is designed to embrace the IB program should a student decide to complete both programs. If a student is interested in pursuing both programs, the decision should be made early so that their program can be developed to fit their requirements.
