Community Service
Every year Bannockburn students have the opportunity to participate in Community Service projects. Working with teachers, parents and volunteers, students gain a greater awareness of the community they live in. In return, their activities make a meaningful contribution to the surrounding community.
2010-2011 | Highlights of the School Year
Community Service Projects
September -- Bannockburn's Help the Homeless project will kick-off with a speaker from the Montgomery County Coalition for the homeless who will talk to students on Sept. 29. Poster making during recess will follow the next day, Sept.30
October -- Help the Homeless Month
Oct. 8-- The mini--walk will be held during recesses. All students will be able to participate.
Oct. 28-- A limited number of children will make bag lunches during recess. Last year 120 lunches were made at school. Any student may make a bag lunch at home and bring it to school that day. These lunches will be collected when students arrive in the morning. Last year over 180 lunches made at home were donated to shelters. All lunches go to feed homeless people in Montgomery County.
November -- Halloween Candy Drive Nov. 3-5. Candy is collected and shipped to U.S. military troops.
December -- Manna Food Drive--Kids Helping Kids
January -- Pennies for Patients -- January 10-14
February -- Jump Rope for Heart -- February 8 All students participate during PE classes
March -- Earth Hour
April -- Green Lunch Week.--April 11-15 No waste lunches are encouraged and recycling emphasized.
June -- Montgomery County Schools Drive for Supplies
