Summer Reading Information: Baker Summer Reading Packet DHS Summer Reading

The Garden Club will meet in the media center on Tuesday, June 12 during lunch. We will transplant the marigolds and basil and spread some mulch in the front garden. Join us!

All library books are to be returned to the media center as soon as possible. We are no longer checking out any materials. Overdue notices will be given to your first-period teachers. Any book not returned will result in an obligation for payment.

The Damascus HS Coaches meeting will now be Tuesday 6/12/18 with the Incoming 9th grade meeting to follow at 7pm in the Auditorium.

Any incoming DHS freshman wanting to play golf next season to get in contact with Coach Kyle Foreman. His email is skf0890@gmail.com. His cell is 2407720355 if any parents have questions.

Attention 8th graders headed to DHS.   Damascus Cross Country is looking for new members.  Conditioning starts in the summer and team meets every day after school in the fall.  Damascus is one of the most competitive programs in the state of Maryland and needs you to join and continue this tradition.   See Coach Bozicevich in Room 212 during bulldog time or lunch to sign up and receive your summer conditioning program.  You can also contact him via email: Jason_Bozicevich@mcpsmd.org

Ladies grades 6-8:  Are you interested in trying the sport of field hockey or are you interested in trying out for the field hockey team in high school?  Before you do, please consider playing this summer.  Urbana High School Athletic Boosters is providing two summer options.  One is a camp for girls entering grades 2-9 held July 23-26 and the other is a clinic for grades 5-9 that runs every Wednesday in June.  For more information, contact Colleen Callis at colleen_j_callis@mcpsmd.org for an emailed copy of the flyers.  Clinic Flyer/Camp Flyer

Financial Obligations: It’s almost the end of the school year and financial obligations are due. All student obligations must be paid by check or cash. If paying by cash, please have the exact amount – we cannot make change. The obligation form or letter must be included with the payment.

A message from Baker Middle School:
We are excited to let you know about some new features in the Parent Portal! After parents create their accounts, they can now access:
• Document Library: Now including current and past MAP reports, a parent resource that breaks down the MAP report, and the Student Grades and Graduation Credit Report (high school only)
• Grade History: This section now includes Student Service Learning hours, displaying hours earned and hours remaining
Questions? Please contact
Kristie_L_Brooks@mcpsmd.org for assistance in setting up your Parent Portal Account.

myMCPS Phone App
There is an app available for your cell phone for the myMCPS parent portal. You can download the app from your cell phone’s app store. Just search, Montgomery Public Schools. If the app does not recognize the log in information that you created on the on-line version, you will need to use your log in information that you received in a letter from MCPS at the beginning of the year. If you no longer have your original log in information, please contact Mrs. Brooks at 240-207-2440 or kristie_l_brooks@mcpsmd.org.

Due to the large number of bus passes that are being requested, students will be able to get bus passes in the cafeteria during lunches from Ms. Brooks, starting on Monday, April 9, 2018. In order to get a bus pass, students must present a written note signed by their parent/guardian with the following information:
Date which applies to bus change request
Student's full name and grade
Name of friend with whom they will be riding
Bus Route #

You are encouraged to use A Note to School which can be found on the last page of the April 8 issue of Paw Prints as well as on the Baker website in the Parents tab under Other Links.

The MCPS robocall system can take 10 minutes to deliver calls to all families, so there can be a delay in transmitting information. The new system allows for push messages through the app and text messages. Unfortunately, these two options have not been fully adopted by all families.

Here is further information as to how you can ensure that you are connected to the MCPS emergency information system: http://www. montgomeryschoolsmd.org/ emergency/sources.aspx

Attention All Students and Parents – if you do not feel well and think you need to go home, do not call your parent or guardian on your cell phone. Please go to the Health Room for an evaluation first. During flu season, it is very important to keep track of how many students are out and why they are out. The Health Room will allow you to make a phone call to your parent or guardian from there.

Parents:  Need help setting up your myMCPS Portal? This DOCUMENT might be just what you’re looking for. Also see the Baker web site PAGE.
