Baker Middle School Good morning Students and Parents going to the Costa Rica trip this summer, there will be a mandatory meeting on June 6th at 5:30pm! This will be the last meeting, before our trip, therefore it will be very important for students and parents to attend. We will be going over last minute information that needs to be addressed and a great opportunity to meet and greet everyone that will be going to the trip! Any forms, tip money not turned, please plan have them in before our meeting. Nos Vemos! Mrs. McMillen's period 7 computer class should report to room 117 today only. “LAST CHANCE, if you are interested in trying out for the 2012-2013 Damascus Hornet Cheer leading Squad you MUST attend the mandatory information meeting on Tuesday, May 14th in Room 120 from 6-7PM at DHS (across from the auditorium).” Other news from the SGA is the announcement of Spirit week this same coming week of May 14! The mile challenge is taking place this Wednesday, during 7th period. All classes are welcomed to attend the race accompanied by their teacher. All students involved must check in with their 7th pd. teacher and then come to the locker rooms to change for the competition. LOOKING AHEAD: Attention Staff and Students: Attention any girls interested in trying out for the Damascus high school summer league basketball team- Tryouts will be on May 22nd, 23rd and 24th from 2:45-4:30 at Damascus High School. Please see Ms. Chandler if you have any questions. Parent Volunteer opportunity: SSL Opportunity: Teen Volunteers (13+) WANTED at Camp Starlight to be camp counselors, unit leaders, and program presenters at a community outreach girl scout day camp, June 18-22, 2012-- 9 am-3pm in Silver Spring/Ashton area, bus transportation offered. Students would help lead and teach camp programs for girls in our Maryland community ages 5-11. We give SSL Hours! This is a wonderful five days of fun and learning at a local site, serving 160 young girls in our community (not already girl scouts) to give them a camp experience. Camp training and planning sessions will be given. Campers also wanted (ages 5-11). All Interested: Contact Christina Blue at cblue@gscnc.org or 202-534-3798 for more information. Clearspring Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help run their annual Spring Fair. The fair will be Friday night May 18th from 5:00-8:30 but volunteers are needed from 3:30 until 9:00. Online Sales of the 2011-2012 yearbooks has been extended until May 30th or sooner, if the books sell out. Don't wait, reserve your copy today. Yearbooks will not be sold here at Baker unless there are copies remaining to be sold beginning in June. Go to Jostensyearbooks.com to purchase your copy today before it's too late. 8th Grade Parents: The PTA has already started planning 8th grade promotion activities including the “exclusive” 8th grade celebration dance on June 8th.
