Philosophy: To enhance the Argyle curriculum, the Media Staff is continually striving
to support the faculty at Argyle Middle School by providing materials and equipment. Through individual and
group instruction, students are encouraged to become independent learners. They are taught skills and knowledge
for a life time.
Resources: The Media Center contains resources selected to support the school's instructional program
and leisure reading for students. Because of this focus, the media center will usually have more resources on
curriculum topics, and more choices for leisure reading than a public library. Students are encouraged to make a
thorough search of resources in Argyle's library and to request assistance from the media staff before looking
elsewhere. The Media Center has an extensive collection of print and nonprint resources including books,
magazines, newspapers, microfiche collections, videodiscs, CD-ROMs, art prints, audio cassettes, and videotapes.
Borrowing Materials: Students may check out 5 items at a time.
Students with overdue books and/or other school obligations may not borrow books until
they have been cleared.
Fiction and Non-Fiction books may be checked out for a period of 2 weeks.
Magazines may be checked out for a period of 2 weeks.
Reference materials may be checked out *Overnight only, after 7th period.*
Instruction for 6th through 8th grades The media center supports the instructional program through
an integrated, interactive classroom setting. Classes utilize the media center's resources of both print and
nonprint materials to enrich the learning process.
