Highlights of August 26 Board of Education Meeting

The Board of Education met today [August 26] and, among other items, tentatively approved a revised policy on facility improvements that are not funded with Montgomery County revenues. The Board also approved two administrative appointments.

Policy on Facility Improvements Not Funded with County Revenues

The Board tentatively approved revised policy CNE Facility Improvements Not Funded with Montgomery County Revenues, which provides guidelines for accepting non-Montgomery County government funds for facility improvements that qualify as capital investments. The initial policy was revised following public comment. An additional public comment period will be held before the Board’s final approval of the policy.

Administrative Appointments

The Board appointed the following administrators:

§ Steven Neff, currently acting special education supervisor, Division of Programs and Services, as special education supervisor, Division of Programs and Services, Office of Student and Community Services.

§ Dr. Suzanne M. Speicher, currently instructional specialist, Division of Programs and Services, as director, Division of Placement and Assessment Services, Office of Student and Community Services.
