More than 35 children with special needs from the Longview School in Germantown will take to the ice in wheelchairs at the ARC Icesports Skating Arena in Rockville on May 1 from 11:00 a.m. until noon.

Volunteers escorting the children on the ice include parents, friends, teachers, Key Club students from Northwest High School, ice hockey players and others who are participating to help make this a safe and memorable event for the young children.

The event was organized by Barbara Smoral, the parent of Longview student Samantha Smoral.
