The County Council will hold its public hearing on the MCPS budget on Thursday, April 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Council Hearing Room in Rockville. Individuals wishing to testify should register in advance by calling 240-777-7931.

The Council's public hearing is very important, given the funding difficulties being faced by the county and the competition among agencies for limited budget dollars next year. [See related announcement about a $26.4-million cut recommended by the County Executive in the requested budget.]

Members of the MCPS community -- parents, teachers, principals, and other staff -- are urged to participate in the public hearing on April 5.

In addition to the April 5th hearing on the school system's budget, the Council will hold additional opportunities for public comment on Monday, April 9; Tuesday, April 10; and Wednesday, April 11, each beginning at 7:30 p.m. An afternoon hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 11, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Individuals can also register to speak at these hearings.
