Student Member of County Board of Education and Paint Branch High School Junior Among Finalists for State Education Board

Christopher Lloyd, current student member of the Montgomery County Board of Education and also an 11th grade student at John F. Kennedy High School, and Robyn Burnett, an 11th grade student at Paint Branch High School who is a member of the Mock Trial Team and the Montgomery County Teen Court at her school, are among five finalists for the position of student member of the Maryland State Board of Education.

The five finalists were selected from a field of 13 by a committee composed of student goverment leaders and an advisor. Each candidate made a presentation to the committee on a current educational issue and answered a series of questions about themselves and the Maryland State Board of Education .

Burnett, Lloyd, and the other finalists will participate in the Maryland Association of Student Councils legislative session on Saturday, February 3rd, where students from throughout Maryland will select the final two candidates.

The two names selected by the students will then be sent to Governor Parris Glendening for consideration and final appointment.
