MCPS to Hold Opening Day Press Event to Celebrate the Start of the 2013-2014 School Year

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will celebrate the start of the 2013-2014 school year with a media event TODAY, August 26, at the newly modernized Weller Road Elementary School, 3301 Weller Road in Silver Spring. Superintendent of Schools Joshua P. Starr and Montgomery County Board of Education President Christopher S. Barclay will join other local and state officials at the event.

More than 151,000 students are expected for the first day of school. The event will highlight growth and changes in MCPS, as well as the district’s new Strategic Planning Framework and the importance of community partnerships. Following the press conference, guests will be invited to tour the school and visit students in their classrooms.
