MCPS Drive for Supplies Program will Provide Free School Supplies to Families

July 12, 2013
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will celebrate its annual Drive for Supplies program with a media event on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Richard Montgomery High School. Montgomery County Board of Education President Christopher S. Barclay and Superintendent of Schools Joshua P. Starr will join other officials at the event.

Each summer, MCPS distributes new and gently used school supplies to Montgomery County families in need. The supplies come from MCPS students and staff who collect and donate supplies as they clean out lockers, desks and closets at the end of the school year. MCPS expects to distribute more than 16,000 pounds of supplies, up from 13,000 pounds in 2012.

Immediately following the event, MCPS schools, families and nonprofit agencies may pick up free supplies for students who need them.

Drive for Supplies, now in its 14th year, is a collaboration between Learn Shop, Inc., and MCPS.
