Media Advisory: MCPS Drive for Supplies Program will Provide Free School Supplies to Montgomery County Families

July 12, 2012
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will celebrate its annual summer Drive for Supplies program with a media event TOMORROW, July 16, 2012, at Richard Montgomery High School. Superintendent of Schools Joshua P. Starr and Montgomery County Board of Education President Shirley Brandman will join other officials at the event. Immediately following this event, families and nonprofit organizations can begin picking up their supplies.

Each summer, MCPS distributes new and gently used school supplies to Montgomery County families in need. The supplies come from MCPS students and staff who collect and donate supplies as they clean out lockers, desks and closets at the end of the school year. Last year, nearly 12,000 pounds of school supplies were distributed to families and nonprofit organizations.

The Drive for Supplies program is sponsored by Learn Shop Inc.
