UPDATE: Programs in MCPS Schools Will Be Held Today, July 6; 8 Schools and Facilities Without Power

Programs and activities in Montgomery County Public Schools will be held today, Friday, July 6, in schools that have power. However, all activities and programs are CANCELED in the following schools and facilities that do not have power (including 2 schools previously not on the list,Westland MS and Whetstone ES):

 

Chevy Chase Elementary School
Northwood High School
Rocking Horse Road Center
Stonegate Elementary School
Washington Grove Elementary School
Julius West Middle School
Westland Middle School
Whetstone Elementary School

 

The Summer Regional High School program at Northwood High School is CANCELED Friday due to ongoing power problems in the building. Summer Regional High School programs at Bethesda-Chevy Chase,Clarksburg and Churchill High Schools WILL take place on Friday. As previously announced, the daily schedule is being extended to make up for lost instructional time at these schools. 

 

MCPS administrative offices and facilities are open with the exception of the Rocking Horse Road Center, which is still without power. 

 

Most schools are open for community use, including camps, recreation programs and daycare programs.However, participants and their families are encouraged to check with program administrators to verify that the program will be held.

 

Elementary Regional Summer School, ELO-SAIL, Middle School Extended Year, Extended School Year programsf or special education students and Head Start summer programs will begin on Monday, July 9.
