MCPS Superintendent Joshua Starr Now on Twitter

July 21, 2011
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Superintendent Joshua P. Starr is now using the popular social network Twitter. Users can follow his tweets about MCPS and his experiences as superintendent using the Twitter username @mcpssuper.

Continuing a practice he began while he was superintendent in Stamford, Connecticut, Dr. Starr will use the social network to share his observations and other news as he goes about his role as superintendent. The short, 140 character limit and instant nature of Twitter make it an engaging way for users to communicate.

“As I explore the school system and talk to the people that make it the vibrant and successful place that it is, Twitter will be a great way to share my experiences with the community.” said Dr. Starr.  “I’m excited about what I’m learning about our outstanding school system and the new connections I am making in the community. Twitter is one more way I can communicate with our families, staff and students."

Twitter is a social networking service, enabling its users to send and read messages called tweets. The service boasts more than 200 million users worldwide.  MCPS also utilizes Twitter as a news and information service and can be found using the username @mcps.
