April is the Month of the Young Child in Montgomery County. Two local malls are holding Month of the Young Child celebrations that are open to the public.

Many county agencies and organizations will share information about the growth, development and learning of young children.

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Office of Communications and Family Outreach will sponsor an “ASK MCPS” table at the events, where parents and community members can ask questions, learn about MCPS programs and services, and take home tips on ways to support learning at home. Staff from the MCPS Division of Early Childhood Programs also will be available.

Children’s activities and entertainment will be provided during these free events.

The Month of the Young Child events are scheduled for:

Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg—March 28,
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Westfield Shoppingtown Wheaton—April 25,
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
