Rockville HS Rededication Set for August 26

Several Elected Officials and Dignitaries
Scheduled to Attend Celebration of New Facility


Numerous elected officials including U.S. Representative Chris Van Hollen and U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski are scheduled to join Board of Education President Charles Haughey and Superintendent Jerry D. Weast at a rededication ceremony of Rockville High School on Saturday, August 26.

The ceremony will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the school, located at 2100 Baltimore Road in Rockville.

Opened in 1968, the original Rockville High School building measured 174,260 square feet. After extensive renovations and construction, the school’s new building opened in 2004 and is now 203,926 square feet.

Maryland State Senator Jennie Forehand and Delegate Kumar Barve of the Maryland House of Delegates are invited speakers. Other officials and dignitaries attending the event are: George Leventhal, president of the Montgomery County Council; Rockville Mayor Larry Giammo; Rockville City Council members Robert Dorsey; Susan Hoffman and Anne Robbins; Montgomery County Council Vice President Marilyn Praisner; and Councilmembers Nancy Floreen and Steve Silverman.

Tours of the school will be held after the program, and refreshments will be available in the cafeteria.
