Seneca Valley HS Closes Early Due to Bomb Threat

ROCKVILLE, MD— At approximately 9:30 a.m. today, July 27, 2006, Montgomery County Public Schools was informed of a bomb threat concerning the regional summer school program at Seneca Valley High School.

Students and staff were safely evacuated to an athletic field behind the school, and public safety officials responded to investigate the threat.

Students were dismissed for the day at 10:30 a.m. due to the heat and the continuing investigation.

As soon as public safety officials conclude the investigation, students and staff may return to the building to collect their personal belongs. It is not known at this time if and when the building will reopen today.

The building is expected to reopen tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. as regularly scheduled.

Montgomery County Public Schools will work with investigators to ensure that those responsible for this threat are held accountable.
