Governor's Visit to Blake HS Focuses on Environment

Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., Maryland Department of the Environment Secretary Kendl P. Philbrick, and Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Robert L. Flanagan will join other officials in a visit to James Hubert Blake High School on Wednesday, September 28, at 9:45 a.m.

The Governor is expected to speak on initiatives in the area of environmental protection, including retrofitting buses with special engine control modules and diesel-oxidation catalysts to reduce emissions; efforts to protect the Chesapeake Bay; and the importance of environmental education opportunities for students.

James Hubert Blake High School and its students and staff will be recognized for their participation in the Green Schools program and will receive a citation from the Governor for organizing the jazz concert that raised $24,000 in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
