New Edition of Aim High! Parent Guide is Now Available

February 3, 2005
Aim High!, a newly revised publication of the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Department of Communications, is designed to inform parents of African American students about opportunities for rigorous education within MCPS. It describes strategies for parents to become advocates for their children to ensure that they receive the appropriate level of challenging instruction.

This newly updated and more comprehensive version of the original Aim High!, is a cooperative project with the Aim High for African American Students Committee and reflects an important collaboration of the school system and leaders and parents in the African American community.

The original version of Aim High! was published in 2000 to increase the participation of African American students in challenging academic programs. The new booklet also will be available in French.

Aim High! is one of a series of parent guides targeted to specific communities within the school system. They include Conquista tu Sueno/Aim High, Aim for Success, and Working Together, available in six Asian languages.

The booklets are available from the MCPS Department of Communications at 301-279-3391 or on the MCPS web site.
