Four Graduation Times Changed for Reagan Funeral

June 8, 2004
Changes have been made in the scheduling of four Montgomery County high school graduations this Wednesday and Friday at DAR Constitution Hall to accommodate the activities in downtown Washington associated with the funeral of the late President Ronald Reagan.

These changes affect Quince Orchard, Thomas S. Wootton, Watkins Mill, and Northwest high schools. The changes were made in collaboration with the leadership of DAR Constitution Hall, based on information obtained from federal and local police and security authorities.

The new times for the graduations are as follows:
* Quince Orchard High School at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9
* Thomas S. Wootton High School at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9
* Watkins Mill High School at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 11
* Northwest High School at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11

The adjustment in the four graduation schedules will avoid potential interference with the funeral procession Wednesday afternoon and the funeral service Friday morning and minimize the impact of traffic and pedestrian congestion expected for the funeral activities. However, participants in the graduations are urged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

The Montgomery County Public Schools will be open on Friday.
