Sister of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to Meet with Students

Dr. Christine King Farris, educator and author of the new book “My Brother Martin,” will visit with students at Earle B. Wood Middle School and Flower Valley Elementary School on Thursday, June 10. She will talk about being a writer and her childhood as the older sister of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. beginning at 11:a.m. at Wood and at 12:15 p.m. at Flower Valley.

Dr. Farris also will meet with school system administrators and principals in the Rockville Cluster as part of a visit sponsored by Montgomery County Public Schools, Silver Spring Chapter of Links, Inc., Montgomery County Branch of the NAACP, Flower Valley Elementary School PTA, and Indian Spring Country Club. The visit will be capped by a presentation at the Indian Spring Country Club at 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Farris is currently associate professor of education and director of The Learning Resources Center at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
