Magruder Student Re-elected to Board of Education

April 29, 2004
Col. Zadok Magruder High School junior Sagar Sanghvi has been elected student member of the Board of Education for 2004-2005. This will be Sangvi's second consecutive term on the Board. He is the first student to hold that honor.

Sanghvi was chosen by 58 percent of the secondary students who cast ballots in the April 28 election, conducted by the Montgomery County Region of the Maryland Association of Student Councils. The overall voter turnout was 83 percent (62,859 students). All high schools and middle schools submitted election results, along with several special schools and alternative programs.

His opponent, Amanda Lee, is a junior at Montgomery Blair High School.

Sanghvi will begin his second one-year term as the 27th student member of the Board on July 1. He has previously served as vice president of the Magruder High School Class of 2005 and president of the Montgomery County Region.
