Three Honors Choruses to Perform in May

Three performances by elementary and secondary Honors choruses are scheduled in May.

The Honors Choruses were organized in 1982 to provide an opportunity for students with strong musical interest and outstanding singing ability. Directors, accompanists and managers are music teachers from Montgomery County Public Schools. Middle school students can participate in treble or mixed choruses.

Scheduled performances are:

· Treble and Mixed Honors Choruses Combined Concert (400 students, Grades 6-9).
Thursday, May 13, 8 p.m., James Hubert Blake High School.
Guest conductor: Patrick Walders, doctoral candidate, University of Maryland, College Park. Accompanists: William Stief, Sligo Middle School; Joan Vanasdalan, Gaithersburg Elementary School. Chorus managers: Ursula Golladay, Oakland Terrace Elementary School; Erin Michener, Kingsview Middle School.

· South County Elementary Honors Chorus Concert (220 students, Grade 5).
Tuesday, May 25, 8:15 p.m., Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.
Conductor: Mary F. Whalen, Ritchie Park Elementary School. Accompanist: Jennifer Kmiecik, Monocacy Elementary School. Chorus manager: Leah Pappas, Rock Creek Valley Elementary School, Julius West Middle School.

· North County Elementary Honors Chorus Concert (220 students, Grade 5).
Wednesday, May 26, 8:15 p.m., Thomas S. Wootton High School.
Conductor: Cheryl Rious, Fairland Elementary School. Accompanist: HeiJung Kim, Sally Ride Elementary School. Chorus Manager: Alison Siegel, White Oak Middle School.
