Gallup Student and Staff Engagement Survey
Tim Hodges, Ph.D., Director of Research, Gallup Education, discusses the Gallup survey results before the Board of Education, February 25, 2013.
Montgomery County Public Schools launched a partnership with Gallup in 2012 to measure employee and student engagement, and to use the results to help guide the school system’s improvement efforts. Employee engagement is measured by Gallup in a 19-question survey. An employee’s level of engagement links to various school outcomes, including employee retention, parent engagement, student retention, and student achievement.
The Gallup student poll is a 20-question survey of students in grades 5 through 12 that measures their hope, engagement, and well-being--actionable targets linked to student achievement, retention, and future employment.
Survey results for the district and for all schools are published on this website. These 2012 data should be treated as a baseline measure. Future years will allow for comparison of current and previous year survey data.
