Quality Academy for New Teachers
As part of the Baldrige implementation plan in MCPS, a quality academy has been established at Sherwood Elementary School. The academy is designed to provide teachers with a hands-on approach for understanding how to develop a Baldrige-guided classroom learning system.
While attending the academy, teachers do the following:
Develop a general understanding of the Baldrige approach to teaching and learning.
Develop an understanding of the rationale behind building Classroom Learning Systems.
Learn about the effectiveness of systematic and systemic planning and evaluation.
Learn and use strategies that will enable teachers to plan and assess using the Baldrige Criteria.
Learn and use high-quality tools that will promote systematic and systemic change.
Learn and use processes that will reinforce student and parent accountability.
Develop an understanding of the importance of shared decision-making and stakeholder input as it relates to student achievement.
Observe teachers using Baldrige in their classrooms with students.
