Page Components

The following elements may be modified by individual webmasters

      • Links to this file must be relative to site root, not document

      • For graphics used in local navigation
• Content Well

    • Identifies the purpose of the page
  • Breadcrumb Trail (if needed)
    • Helps users understand where they are within each minisite
  • Text
    • Page content
  • Sidebar (if needed)
    • Presents additional, related content, or late-breaking news
  • Images (if needed)

  • Establishes site identity and sitewide search box
  • Location of files
    • /global/siteheader.txt

• Global Navigation — SSI
  • Main navigation elements, including search box

  • Provides text-based global navigation elements, copyright information, and links to contact, privacy, terms of use, Acrobat Reader, RealPlayer, and Montgomery County web site

Restrictions

It is important that site visitors are easily able to distinguish the MCPS Web home page and top-level “tab” pages as distinct from other informational pages on the site. The design and photos on the upper-level “tab pages” must be unique. Therefore, webmasters must not mimic the design of the tab pages or appropriate those photographs.
