Best of the Web Awards 2008: Criteria
Generally, all nominees should comply with the MCPS Web Regulation (126K PDF). The minimum criteria nominated sites should meet are outlined on this page. Please do not submit nominees that do not meet these criteria.
Student Contribution nominees should meet the Student Contribution criteria
Content
- Contact information is easy to find, complete, and up-to-date.
- Webmaster contact information is on home page.
- School site header includes name of school and “Montgomery County Public Schools.”
- Footer on home page includes links that are in MCPS global footer.
- Content on site is up-to-date, useful, and spelled correctly.
- Home page has content that is updated regularly (e.g. once a week, once a month, or other level of frequency).
- Content is original or used with permission and sourced.
Structure
- Consistent header and footer exist on pages.
- Non-school site is in the MCPS template.
- Pages are not in frames.
- Pages link back to site home page.
- Pages are appropriately titled so they can be bookmarked.
Design
- Text is easy to read and not overwhelmed by background color or design.
- Animation and Flash are used sparingly and appropriately.
Functionality
- Links function
- Site is based on HTML (not Flash)
