Staff Directory Wins Award of Excellence
Elaine Keagle and the Web Services Team won the Award of Excellence for the online Staff Directory from the National School Public Relations Association’s Chesapeake Chapter (CHESPRA). The awards were announced at CHESPRA’s Fall conference on Nov. 3 and 4, 2005. Keagle, the team’s technical lead, created the Directory database, search engine, and web site. She also built the publishing tools that enable staff to keep their phone information up to date.
The online Staff Directory, now three years old, gets more than 1 million page views a year and serves twice as many non-MCPS visitors as MCPS users. The online Directory has also saved the school system thousands of dollars in labor and materials costs related to printing. The Directory is kept up to date by a Phone Directory Manager at each school and office — so this award is also a testament to their continued contributions in keeping this resource useful to families, staff and the public. We thank them.
Besides the Directory award, the Web Services Team also won Honorable Mention for the MCPS web site's home page.
