Acording to the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) "there are an estimated 10 million Americans living with vision loss."

There is a misconception regarding magnification for the visually impaired. The popular thought is that large print is the best solution for any lack of vision. Furthermore, large print is the first request school staff and parents make during IEP meetings.

The reallity is that today, people with vision loss have an array of tools to access the visual world. From simple magnifiers to special software and sophisticated devices, the visually impaired can choose the best approach to pursue an independent living.

The links on the right column give information about these devices.
