Closed-Circut Televisions (CCTV) consist of a camera that projects a magnified image of any print material onto a monitor or screen.

They come with variable magnification rates. There are CCTV's able to enlarge an image up to 80x!

CCTV's monitors have been changing through the years, adopting the characteristics of regular TV and computer screens. Today, the market offers machines with auto focus, swapping contrast (between text and background), full color, huge screens, and high fidelity.

Some CCTV's come with a portable camera, which can be moved around. Others are equiped with a mouse "reader." The most innovated machines come with distance cameras, very useful for seeing the blackboard or distant objects and people.

Now there are portable closed-circuit televisons usually called handheld CCTV's. They are usually not bigger than 8 by 5 inches, which permit to carry them in a purse, bookbag, and even inside a packet.
