1. How do I get access to WebTrips?
ANSWER: The school’s principal will request access through the Help Desk. Then, an email will be sent to the principal containing a generic user id and password. The principal will provide this information to staff members needing access.
2. What is a generic userid?
ANSWER: It is a user id created to be used by more than one employee at a particular school. For example the user id "xxxadmsec" (xxx = the 3 digit school number) could be used by the administrative secretary as well as by other staff designated as back up to enter trip requests in WebTrips.
3. Can I change my password thru WebTrips?
ANSWER: No, the principal should contact the Help Desk and a new password will be emailed back.
4. I forgot my password, how can I get a new one?
ANSWER: Contact your principal for the forgotten password. He/she can contact the Help Desk to request a new one.
5. Is there a user's manual in the Web?
ANSWER: Yes. Dowload the manual. (PDF)
6. Do I have to take a training class to start using WebTrips?
ANSWER: No, you can use the instructions on the Web and have your principal request a user id through the Help Desk. The Department of Transportation would like to see school staff take advantage of the training classes at CTI to learn other schools best practices for entering and managing field trip requests.
7. When can I start using WebTrips?
ANSWER: You may begin using WebTrips once the training for your cluster has been completed.
8. How do I sign up for training class?
ANSWER: This will be handled thru PDO. Browse the training schedule
9. Can I access WebTrips from my home?
ANSWER: No. WebTrips is intranet can be only accessed from an MCPS domain computer.
10. What happens if you do not enter a “required” field on the field trip request?
ANSWER: Click the back button on the web browser and enter the required data. Required fields are denoted with **.
11. How do I know if my trip request has been approved by the Field Trip Unit?
ANSWER: School staff will see the word “Accepted” on approved field trip requests from the Field Trip Unit.
