Highly Qualified Teachers and Paraprofessionals
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB Act) includes specific requirements related to the qualifications and certification of teachers and paraeducators.
All professional staff teaching core academic subjects in Title I schools must meet the highly qualified requirements. Core academic subjects include reading/English, mathematics, science, social studies, music, and art. Paraprofessional working in Title I schools must also meet the educational requirements under the NCLB Act or pass the paraprofessional, Parapro, examination.
