School psychologists are school-based mental health
professionals committed to ensuring that every child
learns in a safe, healthy and supportive environment.
School psychologists are uniquely skilled in instructional
consultation, collaboration, behavior management, social
skill development, psychological assessment and the
identification of exceptionalities.
They have the knowledge, skill, and experience to work
in partnership with other school staff members and parents
and apply psychological, mental health and child development
approaches to enhance academic achievement and social-emotional
learning.

MCPS school psychologists work in a variety of programs
and setting such as Head Start programs, special and
general education schools, alternative programs, and
the bilingual assessment team.
