What We Do
The three Field Office units (Metro Park, Spring Mill and Upcounty) are responsible for providing direct on-going support to students, parents, school staff and communities. The units are comprised of a supervisor, specialist, pupil personnel workers, psychologists, and secretarial staff. The field office assigns each Montgomery County elementary, middle, and high school a psychologist and pupil personnel worker team who meet on a regular basis with the individual school teams.

The direct on-going support provided by the field office team include:

• Collaborating with school staff in developing academic and behavioral supports for students including psychological assessment of students referred through the school individualized education program team;
• Providing crisis response and grief counseling for students, school staff, and communities;
• Processing all change of school assignment applications to render decisions consistent with current policies and procedures;
• Collaborating with local school administration regarding the implementation of school system discipline policy including conducting investigative conferences for students being suspended beyond 10-days with a request for consideration of expulsion from the school system;
• Conducting educational reviews of students who are home schooled for compliance with county and state regulations;
• Assisting schools in "best interest" meetings and implementation of national, state, and local school system homeless regulations.

Field offices work collaboratively with Montgomery and State community agencies and other MCPS units to implement the "Call to Action".
