Rockville District Court Building, 1st Floor
Montgomery County Juvenile Assessment Center
7300 Calhoun Place
Rockville, Maryland 20855

What We Do
The Court Liaison works under the direction of the MCPS Director of Student Services to research and summarize student records so that appropriate educational recommendations are made to the Juvenile Division of Montgomery County's Circuit Court.

Examples of Duties and Work Related Responsibilities
The court liaison responds to juvenile court orders that request interventions for identified adjudicated students. These interventions include obtaining interagency reports when appropriate, obtaining student grades from DJS placement facilities, meeting with at-risk youth, GED counseling and summarizing student records for the court. Other duties include coordinating subpoenas for student records and visiting different DJS facilities around the state to check on the school progress of our students who have been committed to those programs.

In addition to preparing student reports for the Juvenile Court the Court Liaison also serves as a on going resource to the Juvenile Judges, Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, MCPS staff, Montgomery County Child Welfare, Court Appointed Special Advocates, States Attorney's Juvenile Team, Private Sector attorneys that practice Juvenile Law, Office of the Public Defender (CINA unit), Public Defender's Office (Delinquency and Child in Need of Assistance Units), Legal Aid of Montgomery Couty (Juvinile Team).

Montgomery County Interagency Student Transition Team
The Montgomery County Student Transition Team was set up in response to a mandate by the MSDE that each of Maryland's counties and the City of Baltimore set up teams to assist the Department of Juvenile Services with students who were returning to the community from DJS residential placement facilities. Our local team consists of membership from Health and Human Services, DJS Pupil and Field Services, a Case Manager from Family Court and MCPS Student Services and meets every other Friday at the Montgomery County Juvenile Assessment Center.

Second Chance GED Program
This is a grant program set up to assist needy students with the necessary resources so that they can take the GED Practice Test.
