What We Do
The Disciplinary Review & School Assignment Unit (DRSAU) is responsible for providing on-going support to students, parents, and school staff. The unit is comprised of a supervisor, three coordinators, and two secretaries. The role of this unit is primarily to process Change of School Assignments (COSA) and conduct investigative conferences/disciplinary hearings when a suspension with a request for expulsion is issued.

The on-going support provided by DRSAU includes:

• Collaborating with school staff in developing academic and behavioral supports for students;
• Processing all change of school assignments applications to render decisions consistent with current polices and procedures;
• Collaborating with local school administration regarding the implementation of school system discipline policy including conducting investigative conferences for students suspended beyond 10-days with a request for consideration of expulsion for the school system.

DRSAU works collaboratively with Montgomery County, State and community agencies as well as other MCPS units to implement the MCPS Strategic Plan.
