MCJC History

Before 1957, the middle school/junior high county government was a part of the high school region, the Montgomery County Region (MCR) of the Maryland Association of Student Councils, sponsored by the county organization of secondary school principals. During these early years, MCJC met once a month for a half day on Saturday, at different host schools. In 1963, MCJC was "rediscovered" and became a division of MCR, now sponsored by the Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland. As a division of the MCR, the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) eventually recognized MCJC as a student government region in its own right. MCJC is currently a division of the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC).
