MCJC General Assemblies

Hosting Information: Schools wishing to host a general assembly may call the Student Affairs Office (301-670-1419) or download a copy of the host checklist and application here (PDF file).

General Information and required paperwork for the General Assembly: Students attending the MCJC General Assembly should turn in a copy of their field trip permission form (PDF file) to the SGA advisor. The school will complete a School Attendance Form (PDF file)and will attach the copies of the permission forms to be turned in at the general assembly. These will be collected for emergency information and data purposes. It is the responsibility of the school SGA advisor to collect all of the necessary forms and keep the original on file at the school. This is a MCPS approved field trip.

Lunch at the General Assembly: All students attending the General Assembly need to bring a bag lunch or cash for lunch. A student's SNAP or PIN number is not accepted at other schools. Students on free or reduced lunch should arrange for a bag lunch from their own school prior to the general assembly. The host school will provide a light morning refreshment.

2008-2009 Calendar

Please RSVP if you will or will not attend by the deadline so the trip tickets can be finalized and sent to the field trip office in a timely manner - thank you. (PDF chart). One week before the meeting, email the number of students attending and the number of students buying lunch so the host will be able to prepare for the meeting.

MCJC Membership: Has your school joined MCJC this year? Please complete the MCJC Membership form (PDF file) and join today! Schools joining both MCJC and MASC before December 1st receive a $5.00 discount from MCJC. See the membership form for details or call the Student Affairs Office at 301-670-1419. (MASC Membership Form - pdf file)

Students wishing to present legislation at General Assembly should complete (using a black pen) and bring the MCJC legislation form (PDF file) to the meeting and turn it into the MCJC Advisor upon arriving at the host school. This allows a transparency to be made ahead of time so the legislation can be projected for all students to see as it is discussed.

School Reports: Schools are asked to email a school report to Karen_L_Crawford@mcpsmd.org no later than one week prior to the general assembly. School reports will be included in a news packet for the presidents/school representative to take back to their school and share. This is a great resource for new ideas and to share the great things that are happening at your school!

Parliamentary Procedures Flow Chart: To help students follow the discussion of legislation, follow the Parliamentary Procedures Flow Chart (PDF file)- it's the Easy Way!
