Bus Request :deadline 3:00 p.m. (see chart below for deadlines)
Schools must request a bus for their school's delegation to attend a general assembly. The bus RSVP is due approximately 12 days before the general assembly (see deadlines posted on the pdf chart or chart below). This time allows the field trip office to group the schools and then the the Student Affairs Office completes the field trip paperwork. Click on this link to request a bus for your school (link). There is no password to log-on.

Attendance Report : deadline 3:00 p.m. (see chart below for deadlines)

Schools must report the number of students attending and the number of students purchasing lunch for the general assembly. This allows the host school to prepare for the meeting. The deadline is posted on the chart (pdf or chart below). Click on this link to request report your school's attendance (link). There is no password to log-on.

Hosting Information:
Schools wishing to host a 2009-2010 general assembly should first read the hosting checklist (pdf), then apply on-line (link). There is no password to apply.

Lunch at the General Assembly: All students attending the General Assembly need to bring a bag lunch or cash for lunch. A student's SNAP or PIN number is not accepted at other schools. Students on free or reduced lunch should arrange for a bag lunch from their own school prior to the general assembly. The host school will provide a light morning refreshment. It is important that school register the number of students attending and the number of students buying lunch so the host school may prepare.

General Information and required paperwork for the General Assembly: Students attending the MCJC General Assembly should turn in a copy of their field trip permission form (PDF file) to the SGA advisor. The school will complete a School Attendance Form (PDF file)and will attach the copies of the permission forms to be turned in at the general assembly. These will be collected for emergency information and data purposes. It is the responsibility of the school SGA advisor to collect all of the necessary forms and keep the original on file at the school. This is a MCPS approved field trip.

Meeting Times: 10:30am - 12:45pm
MCJC has bus transportation to their general assemblies at no charge to the schools. Buses pick up students beginning at 9:25 a.m. and return them between 1:15 - 1:45 p.m.

Membership Schools joining both MCJC and MASC before December 1st receive a $5.00 discount from MCJC. Click here to complete the MCJC membership application. To join MASC directly, click here to go to the MASC web site)

Students wishing to present legislation at General Assembly should complete (using a black pen) and bring the MCJC legislation form (PDF file) to the meeting and turn it into the MCJC Advisor upon arriving at the host school. This allows a transparency to be made ahead of time so the legislation can be projected for all students to see as it is discussed.

School Reports: Schools are asked to submit a school report to be included in a MCJC newsletter at the end of each semester. This is a great resource for new ideas and to share the great things that are happening at your school!

Parliamentary Procedures Flow Chart: To help students follow the discussion of legislation, follow the Parliamentary Procedures Flow Chart (PDF file)- it's the Easy Way!
